“I have been going door to door to administer polio drops to children under the age of five for 16 years now. I have received threats on numerous occasions while my husband too has been warned of serious consequences and as a result my family wants me to stop working for polio eradication. However, I am and will remain committed to this cause. I feel that my role is very important in polio programme because if field workers do not go door to door to vaccinate children the disease wouldn’t be eradicated from Pakistan. Somebody needs to get the job done and I enjoy doing it. Polio cripples children and I am proud to say that because of my continuous hard work in the field there has been no polio case in my area for a number of years now.”
