Polio paralysis was wide-spread across Pakistan 20 years back when I first joined the eradication programme. One could come across many people struck by polio everywhere. I was trained as a lady health worker before joining vaccination teams.

The recent progress in the fight against polio is highly inspiring for me and all me fellow health workers. It’s completely different when you feel you are working for a winning cause. However, achieving the ultimate goal depends on everyone’s commitment to keep up the fight against polio unabated.

During the vaccination campaign and catch up days I go door to door to vaccinate children and on other days I go back to check the door marking to see if any child has been missed. One day which is very near inshalla the whole world will recognize and celebrate the good job done by hundreds of thousands of Pakistani health workers in ridding our children and future generations the miseries of polio.
