Nine massive polio campaigns by May 2018 reaching between 10 and 37 million children in each campaign

Mass polio drives are intended to interrupt transmission by immunizing every child under the age of five monthly, regardless of the number of times they have been immunized previously. These campaigns help protect children who are not immunized or partially protected and boost the immunity of those who are immunized, thereby reducing the pool of potential hosts.
