I fell ill when I was a little child. My family tells me that they took me to various doctors to no avail.

At school all my fellows could walk and play while I used to stand as a spectator. I was often pursued and teased by other children. I used to cry when I got back home.

I rely on my special bicycle for mobility because I cannot walk. I have to open the tailor shop every morning, but I cannot do it before I crawl on the floor to reach the lock and open the shutters.

Despite my disability I work hard in tailoring garments to support my family’s living.

I participate in every opportunity to share the story of my struggle with polio.

I appeal to all parents to put their children’s vaccination on top of their priorities; that’s the only way to drive the scourge of polio out of our country. So many children in Pakistan have been denied the right to enjoy their childhood and grow up struggling with permanent disability

Polio is a permanent disability… let’s eradicate it permanently.
