Islamabad, 6, January 2014 - A Rotary delegation of India and Sri Lanka arrived in Karachi to start Rotary Flame journey from Pakistan. Rotary Club of Karachi hosted the delegation. National Chair Pakistan Polio Plus Committee arranged a meeting of the delegation with the Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ibad. The purpose of the meeting was to enlighten the Rotary Flame by the Governor to show solidarity with the Polio Eradication initiatives worldwide.

The Rotary delegation comprised of PDG Mohammed Fakhri Hassen from Colombo, Sri Lanka; President Srikanth Singanallur Narasimhan, PP N. K Gopinath and PDG Benjamin Cherian Ramachandran all from the Rotary Club of Madras, India, DGNPPC Chair Aziz Memon, DG Shabaz Qureshi, DGE Jehangir Mughal, DGN Saleem Rao, PP Masood Bhalli met with the Governor of Sindh to enlight the Rotary Flame.

The Flame will travel from Karachi to Interior Sindh (Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur), to Quetta in Balochistan, then Multan, Lahore and Islamabad in Punjab, and then to Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before it departs for Kabul, Afghanistan. This will cover all the major cities in all four provinces of Pakistan, covering both Rotary Districts 3271 and 3272 across Pakistan.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of all Rotarians and especially extended his thanks to the Rotarians comes from India and Siri Lanka. At the end, the Governor Sindh ignited the Rotary Flame and ensured his support and committed to eradicate polio from Pakistan.
