“In Darpakhel area vaccination activities took place under a cloud of fear. But situation was worse in adjoining areas where vaccination activities were suspended due to unfounded opposition by the clerics and security situation. The outbreak of polio cases is serious in North Waziristan it is only due to ban on polio vaccination. The situation in villages of Eidak, Gariom, Shawal, Degan and Machis is alarming as all these areas are a hub of militancy. Except Miranshah and Mirali no public hospitals existed in entire agency. Therefore people had to suffer a lot. I believe vaccination is the only way to protect my five children and all other children in the country from life-threatening diseases.”
